2010 Infinity Banquet
Friday Night, March 26, 2010
Rockwood Manor
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
11001 MacArthur Blvd
Potomac, MD 20854
The banquet includes dinner and dessert with background music, the presentation of our four awards, and an auction to help defray conference and accreditation expenses.
Costumes on the theme of the four seasons are encouraged but not required.
First Award—Lifetime Achievement—Caroline Kenner
Caroline Kenner is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her creation and renewal of mult-faith events nationwide. Caroline was instrumental in the quest for the Veterans’ Pentagram, and currently helps organize the Sacred Space Conference, held annually in February. Caroline has served the Pagan community as a media resource and spokesperson for two decades. She is committed to the ongoing work of global healing inspired by the New Orleans Voodoo Teacher Marie Laveau, with Love, Honor, Respect, Abundance, Peace, and Joy.
Second Award—Points of Light Award—Imam Yahyah M. Hendi
Imam Hendi was born in Jerusalem, the heart of three major faiths, and has spent his life in public service reaching out to find common ground among the world’s religions. He has lectured all over the world from the Middle East to West Africa. He currently serves as the Muslim Chaplain at Georgetown University. We are privileged to join with the Presidential Points of Light Foundation in being able to honor him this year.
Third Award—Individual Public Service—Thomas Eddie Hufford
Thomas Hufford (known as Balu) was the High Priest of WesTran Alpha Coven. He was a teacher with Ecumenicon Fellowship for many years, and served as webmaster for Ecumenicon Fellowship and the Interfaith Fairness Coalition of Maryland. Balu was reared as a Mormon, and discovered Wicca in 1983, receiving his first degree in the Alexandrian tradition, and his second and third degrees in Western Transformational Wicca. He advocated on ADA issues, honored veterans, and gave of himself behind the scenes. He was a Vietnam veteran with 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, and an Auditor (Civilian) for the U.S. Army Audit Agency. He died of colon cancer complications on November 29, 2009, so this award is posthumous. His memory will not fade.
Fourth Award—Group Public Service—DC Radical Faeries
The DC Radical Faeries is being honored for the creation of the Red Dragon Feast for blood-borne diseases. We also recognize their work as active facilitators in the early years of the Pagan Leadership Conference; energetic ritualists at several Pagan Pride Festivals; and wonderful participants in the DC Pride Interfaith Services.
An auction limited to those attending will be offered of various contributed items to help in our move toward educational accreditation and related expenses. These items are all donated to Ecumenicon. See Donations for items.
